Global Warming Design Template

This project came from a craigslist.org posting.

A representative from the Jim Morris Environmental T-Shirt Co. held a contest to see who could create the best global warming T-shirt design for Earth Day. The objective was for the designers to create an urban/hipster style in the design to not only attract younger consumers, but to also help raise awareness about global warming so they can become encouraged to take action.

A section from the e-mail I have sent to the representative with my design submission:

"The three major elements you will see in this design is a stop sign, a tidal wave, and the text that says 'global warming'. The creation of the tidal wave was inspired by Katsushika Hokusai's masterpiece, 'The Great Wave Off Kanagawa' to represent today's melting glaciers due to global warming. The stop sign is to simply give out the message "STOP". And the typography style for "GLOBAL WARMING" is used very effectively in this design to show that the overall piece gives out two messages: 1) global warming is a war that we are fighting, and 2) we need to stop global warming now.

As for the fonts used in this piece, I have chosen 'Arial Narrow' for the stop sign because it best matches the stop signs we see out on the streets today, and the font 'Coolvetica' because it has the sharp edges like the stop sign, the curls to match the curves of the waves, and it is a font heavily related to 'Helvetica75', which is a font that comes from today's most popular and trendy font family 'Helvetica'."

Above is a template I have created that involves layout placements with T-shirt design submission in all of the colors the company has to offer.

First Prize: Six free T-shirts with the design on them, plus $0.50 commission for every shirt sold.

I ranked #1 out of all of the designers.
